It’s amazing what a mild lift and a set of nice shiny steelies will do for a vehicle. I’ve never contemplated owning a GMC Safari before, but now I kinda really want one. Sorta maybe.

Neighbor up the street has one, 1997 in mint condition, which is nearly impossible to do in Maine. It’s nearing 300k miles now, and the rear springs seem to have some sag, but everything else looks fantastic. I have respect for this van and the man who has kept it so well.

My friend who kiteboards has one like that for his fun van. He drives it to Scorpion Bay in Mexico sometimes. He says they are not as good as other vehicles, they have some limitations but you can get cheap parts.

Much respect. My parents have a 2000 that has been the parts runner for their business for over a decade. It’s got about 300,000 miles on, fires up every time and keeps hauling blocks, rotating assemblies, heads and parts to the machine shop, big blocks to the dyno, jigs to the welder and dogs on random country drives. It’s a trooper! I did snap an axle once showing off and doing burn outs in it. I learned how to rebuild a 10 bolt!
